We adopted our one-and-a-half-year-old puppy dog, Finnigan, from our local shelter. He spent about 45 minutes (one-on-one) out on a walk with Finn and my son and showed him each step again. He was very patient with him (my son, as the fault was not with Finn, but rather my son not following instructions). My son now walks Finn exactly as Brent instructed and they have a ton more fun on their daily walks. Brent also brought Finn back fully crate trained (hallelujah!) and with his crate-only toys, he happily chills in his crate when we're not home without whining or howling (this has been verified by many neighbors). I truly can't recommend Ace Dog Training more for anyone who wants a happy and relaxing home with a furry friend by their side. Brent is super friendly, professional, kind, and most importantly- he's a natural with dogs. We adopted Rocky from woods humane society and we knew he was going to need a lot of help. A month in we knew we couldn't do it on our own and we needed to seek professional training. From the start working with Brent was amazing. He sent updates, pictures and videos along the way. We opted for the month long boarding training and are so happy we did. I’m usually not much of a review writer, but when something WORKS it just works! Brent took my 90 pound, 1 year old, German Shepherd mix Shoyo for 4 weeks. I was so skeptical about board & train, but no other trainers were working and I needed help fast. I have a 2.5 year old son, and Shoyo was a primarily outdoor dog with no manners that I desperately wanted to be “a part of the family”. I decided to go with the 4 weeks of training, and I couldn’t have made a better decision. It was like a NEW dog came home—well, not entirely new, he still retained his goofy, lovable personality but came home entirely trained. I can walk him without him dragging me down the street, he can be inside without knocking my son and half the room down with him, he sleeps by my bed through the night with zero barks or cries, he no longer jumps up on people or barks at other dogs when we walk; the list could truly go on of what a life-changing experience this has been, both for me and Shoyo as well! had tried 4 other dog trainers that were not happening before i had Brent come over to work with my german shepherd. first time was great and most successful. had just rescued a 2 year old GS and she needed some guidance after the 2nd session my GS was fully trained and obedient to all commands. she was confused when i 1st got her and needed to be shown what I wanted with no confusion to commands. We adopted a beautiful dog a year ago, but almost gave up on her when we could not control her on her daily walks. Brent is an awesome trainer! He did at-home training with my 6 year old spaniel, Penny and it was super helpful. Penny had gotten to the point that she wasn’t listening to ANY commands, and was pulling and stopping constantly on-leash. Brent really explained the psychology behind the way dogs think, so I was better able to understand why she behaves the way she does. He also gave us some really good direction and training methods. Penny is obeying commands much more consistently and is SO much better on leash now. Highly recommended!

I sent my Doberman to Ace Training with the hopes of having a well behaved and obedient friend. I was more than satisfied when Zeus came home. I am now able to leave the front door open knowing my energetic and curious Zeus will stay. He now follows commands and he is able to behave when we have company over.

Brent is a wonderful guy who has a passion for dogs and loves what he does. I knew my dog was in good hands after one conversation with Brent. While Zeus was at training, Brent sent us updates with videos and pictures of Zeus's progress and from the looks of it he was having such a fun time!

A couple weeks after Zeus's training was over, my family and I went on vacation and we needed a sitter for Zeus. Brent took him in with open arms even though it was last minute notice. Brent saved my life - no exaggeration. I have a shepherd/lab mix who has endless energy. We had gone to Woods basic training, where we learned some basic skills. But he needed more training than that, and with a firmer touch. Brent took my boy for 2 weeks, and it changed our lives. I wish I would have done it sooner. He trained him to an e-collar and taught him how to walk on a loose leash. Although my boy is still extremely high energy, it has been channeled into a healthy routine. Brent was so responsive to questions before, and made sure to keep me updated throughout the training. I was only able to afford a 2 week course, but would have found a way to make 3 weeks work if necessary, for my sanity. I kept in touch with Brent about my dog's progress. By day 10, Brent had let me know that Scout was well on his way and the 2 week course would be adequate. I live on a property with several other dogs; once, my boy was the most crazy of all - now, he is the most well behaved. He stays in the front yard without a collar on and will not leave my eyesight. He recalls immediately. Brent changed our lives, and for that I will be eternally grateful. Save yourself a headache and send your dog here ASAP. I wish I would have sooner!!

We knew that Brent had a very special connection with the canine species immediately when he walked into our house and stopped our puppy (Luna) from jumping up on him as she perpetually had done with everyone up to that point. His love and knowledge of all things dog is extensive and rich. After a few weeks with Brent Luna became the dog we needed and wanted her to be. I've noticed that all the dogs he boards/trains are very friendly and obedient. If a dog barks out of line, he says one word and the dog is quiet for a long time after that.

This review is long overdue! Brent helped us tame our crazy chocolate lab Cody. We did both the in home training and the three week board and train program. Right away when Brent came into our home I could tell he was able to communicate more effectively with Cody. I was at my wits end with our crazy baby Cody and Brent right away gave us some extremely helpful behavior modifications that made a huge difference in Cody's behavior. I was nervous about the board and train because I wanted Cody to be a better listener but I didn't want to completely get rid of his spunk. The board and train was just right! He's still a knucklehead chocolate lab but he listens to us and at one year old he's doing pretty good. We'd be lost without Brent's help he is definitely the local dog whisperer!

Brent trained our three month old lab for eight weeks and did an excellent job! We were sad to lose her for that long but very glad we chose the full time. Coco is smart so we figured if she "got it" in four weeks she would be engrained in eight and if she was still too you/struggling at four weeks it was best to do the whole eight. As a young puppy with young kids in the house we found it difficult to train her and help get her energy out... by the time she returned she can sit/lay and stay while we walk 20+ yards away and release her. She does not need a leash and walks right next to my five year old daughter and no longer jumps, chews, bites, etc. We're very pleased with Brent and recommend the whole eight weeks for anyone with a young puppy and young kids at home!

Louie is a graduate of Ace. I handed Brent a rather spastic minded year old Great Dane. He returned a calm minded obedient dog that is a pleasure to have around the house. I am a lazy dog trainer and Louie took advantage of every opportunity to get away with shenanigans before spending time with Brent. Louie absolutely would not come to me when I called him, drove me nuts. Now, he can be in the middle of playing, I'll call to him, and he always comes to me. Amazing! Brent trained him so well. We adopted a sweet pup from a shelter and he quickly became our favorite member of the home! We knew he was just a puppy, but we wAnted to make sure that he would be a lifelong well behaved dog that we could take anywhere (within reason) with us and he would be welcomed! I did a bit of research on dog training and obedience, and I had several glowing reviews about Brent from friends who had their puppies trained with Brent. So we took the leap! It felt strangest first to send my puppy away for camp (he was 5 months when he went, and 2 months when we adopted him). I worried that he would forget me, or be mad that I sent him away. Brent eased my worries with researched backed dog behavior and put my mind at ease. I received 2 emails/ photos a week in addition to training videos of my sweet guy. Buddy came home to use just as in love with our family as he left and still very much bonded to us. He came home an incredibly well behaved puppy. I mean, seriously well behaved puppy! He follows my commands very well and my son is training with him too and our puppy is happy to learn and obey! He thinks training time is so fun!!! I take him everywhere he is welcome (restaurants, shopping, parks etc...) and I get comments every single time about how well behaved he is (and or course cute!!!) Brent SAVED us. Our labradoodle came back from another trainer and was a mess!!! After 6 weeks with that trainer, she was not crate trained, leash trained, had no concept of basic commands (sit, stay, down) and was demand barking/whining (all night). We were pretty upset to say the least. After sleepless nights and spending a ton of money on an unqualified trainer, we found Brent. He immediately started with phone support until we could make the drive to him. We now have an amazing dog who gets stopped by strangers to compliment her behavior. It's a completely different experience and dog. During the transition phase he was beyond responsive and had protocol to follow if any specific issues arose. Daily, I silently thank him. LOL!! My dog is a pleasure to take out and enjoy as a family. Brent is truly a fantastic trainer, a rare find and, as we learned the hard way, there are not many trainers like him.

Brent helped us with our 1.5 year old french bulldog that had a few issues. He did NOT come when he was called, was possessive over food, the couch and what he considered "his areas". It got to where I felt he couldn't be trusted around my son. He also was showing aggression towards my husband and a few time snapped at him when he was trying to move Vinny from somewhere he shouldn't be. With frenchies being a stubborn breed, I thought there was no hope for him and even thought for a little while we might have to get rid of him.
Brent helped us recognize the behavior that builds to those situations with a straightforward realistic approach. No clicker, no treats, just discipline and consistency with an e-collar, only in the beginning to get him focused on us. Every dog has different issues and Brent helped us to treat Vinny like a dog not a cute little tyrant that rules our house with the humans coming second. We've taught him his place in our household and he is so much more relaxed in his day to day life. He is actually enjoyable to be around now!

Our 6 month old Pug who was 5 months at the time was constantly biting our kids, not potty trained, did not listen to anyone, and was afraid of outside. Our main reason for reaching out to Brent was because we have 2 cats and our black lab (Jaxon) wasn't doing well them. Within 10 minutes of his first visit we had the the dog and cats commingling with no issues. We couldn't believe it. Brent is also helping us fine tune some obedience training. Jaxon has most of his basic commands down but tends to get excited around new dogs/surroundings making recall difficult at times. We are quickly overcoming these issues as well. Brent truly is the real deal. Worth every penny.

Brent was a miracle worker with our wolf hybrid. After three weeks of training our dog listens to commands, no longer nips or jumps. We had major problems with our wolf and couldn't trust him alone around our 4yr old and 18month old children. Brent is an amazing dog trainer and is very accommodating to his clients and their dog(s). He will teach you strategies that make you a better owner. Any questions or concerned I had, Brent met with satisfaction. Not only does he loves dogs he really puts in effort and time with in home follow ups. I had my puppy pug max trained for three weeks. He's now a very obedient pup. Before his training he would always play with my 3 year old daughter sometimes rough due to the excitement. Now that he's back home with us max is very calm and seems to be much more mature than before. Additionally, he listens to commands and recalls very well!

Our dog is a shepherd boxer mix we adopted from a shelter when she was about 6 months old. She had never been trained and had a pretty severe case of leash reactivity. After two long board and trains with local trainers with good reputations she showed minimal improvement. We were still unable to walk her in our neighborhood without a significant chance that she would lunge and bark when encountering another dog, even if that dog was on the other side of the street.

Luckily, we found Brent after many frustrating months. After two weeks of board and train with him she has shown significant improvement. She is less reactive and calmer around other dogs and in all ways significantly better on leash. She is more tuned into us and much better able to ignore distractions.

Most importantly Brent has been very patient showing us exercises and techniques we can use with our dog to build a stronger relationship and to ensure further progress. He has also given us excellent advice on how to handle situations when we encounter ill-behaved dogs.

He combines positive reinforcement and gentle correction very effectively in his training. He is by far the best trainer we have found in the area. Our dog loves Brent and it is easy to see that he loves and knows how to bring out the best in dogs.

Brent was fantastic. We got an 8 week old puppy named lyle from the pound 2 years ago. He was very aggressive and would nip. We were pregnant with our first child and were nervous that we might have to get rid of Lyle. However, we sent him to the 2 week "boot camp" and he came back a much better dog. We also had one on one training at our home to help us learn to be better dog parents. 2 years later, Lyle has turned into a great addition to our family. I would highly recommend his services.

Brent is absolutely amazing! He works miracles. My dog was a 'runner' so I was constantly worried that she would accidentally get away from me and I would not be able to catch her. After putting her through the 3 week board and train, not only do I not have to worry about her running away, but now she walks with me even if there is no leash involved. She will just follow me wherever I go. She also went into that training camp reactive towards other dogs and she has come out a totally different dog. She listens so well, which is something I never thought she would be good at. Brent helped me so much by giving Georgie the foundation she needed to be a truly great dog. I am forever grateful that this is the program I decided to use to help train my dog.

Brent is excellent. We have two Golden doodles one 6 months (Stella) and one 2 years (Myla.) Stella was a handful not following commands, jumping on peopl, pulling when being walked etc.. After spending time with Brent Stella no longer jumps at people as they come thru our door and she will follow commands perfectly. I am impresed by how quickly he was able to get Stella to follow directions and not be effected by distractions. He also gave us suggestions on some excercises and other training to do with Myla while Stella was gone at boarding school.
In addition he returned Sella at a time my wife was not home and he sheduled a followup visit at a time my wife could be there to be sure she understood the commands and how to let Stella and Myla know who was in charge.

We have two dogs that were both reactive to other dogs and very territorial and could not be taken on walks or other outings for fear of our dogs misbehaving. We reached out to Brent at Ace Dog Training Services and immediately found him to be knowledgeable with a plan to help our dogs. We sent our dogs to Brent for his board and train program. Initially, we had one dog for the four week program and one for three weeks. Within three weeks, Brent said both dogs were ready to go home as the extra week wasn't needed.

What a difference Brent's training made. We had new dogs! They were pleasant to take on walks, well trained and the reactive behaviors were taken care of. This success came after multiple other attempts to train the dogs, and came after other training programs essentially gave up on our dogs.

Brent kept us up to date on the training progress with pictures, emails and videos and his follow up training has been helpful. Brent's knowledge, training, and ability to assess a dog and figure out how to train them is invaluable to us. We are very grateful we went to Brent for help!

I took my puppy Hank to Brent for his two week board and train (I wish I could've done the month!) and he is 100% better, I am amazed! He was being aggressive toward other dogs and also people at times. He also would greet guests by jumping on them and barked/ growled at people who would walk by. He's been back with us now for two days and he calmed down so much. I don't even have to worry about him running down the street if I have him outside with me without a leash. He will also sit, lay, and stay! I was trimming bushes yesterday with Hank outside with me and all I had to do was tell him to sit and stay, and he sat there and watched me until I was done. Two weeks ago he would've been running up and down the streets. Thank you Brent, you're amazing!

My wife and I got a new puppy, Abby, who took control of our house. We tried working at home with Abby with no success. Brent visited and gave us some training alongside Abby. Well, Abby still had control over us. We sent Abby to boarding school with Brent. He sent us photos and videos of her progress. She is home after two weeks, very happy and the puppy we wanted. The training goes on each day and now we all enjoy our training/play time. Brent is so calm and steady with the dogs. I recommend him highly.

I must say, before I called Brent, I was very skeptical about all the positive reviews. My dog was a scared-y cat!! We sent our 6 month old pup Mozzy to board & train for 2 weeks. Immediately we could tell Mozzy was so much more obedient after the training. The main reason I am glad we called Brent was the behavioral issues I had with him. My dog is protective of me, especially around men, even my fiance! After the training session, his lifetime follow up was very helpful, especially when we had company over. I called Brent, he came over, identified the issue, and gave us training techniques. Mozzy used to be inconsolable when we had company over. He would get easily overwhelmed. He taught us how to train him when he shut down. We have incorporated all of the dog training techniques Brent taught us and it made a huge difference. We could not be any happier with the results. If your dog needs help, take him to Brent, don't give it a second thought. I missed my dog so much, especially in the beginning but it was 100% worth it.

Brent is great! I have a VERY loud beagle who is constantly anxious and has trouble regulating himself. Brent took my dog for 2 weeks and the tips that he gave me have been helpful in regulating my dogs behavior. Crate training and leash training are much better than before. Just remember that if your dog has an issue like noise, Brent will not CURE the issue. However, he can give you tips on how to deal with it and the source. The best part is once he trains your dog he will board them when you're out of town. So if you have a difficult dog you know it is in good hands!

I sent two French bulldogs I was having problems with fighting. They fought just about every chance they got, it got to the point where I either had to sell one of them or try and find someone to do something about it. The fighting was significantly reduced ( I am still working on a couple things but they should be down to not fighting at all in no time) I was amazed by how good they are now. Fighting is one thing you can never stop but can definitely prevent. The two dogs listen very well and I just need to work on them knowing I will not tolerate bad behavior. I used to let them do whatever they want, so now I'm using what the dogs were taught and I already know the fighting will stop in no time. Brent was great with them and I also get to keep both dogs now. It would've been very difficult for me to let one go. I would recommend brent to anyone. Worth every penny.

Our 6 year old Boxer/Terrier mix, Kali, was being aggressive towards other dogs and even people at times. Lots of barking, growling and we were unable to calm her down once she got too excited or overstimulated. We were unable to even take her on walks due to her want to go after other dogs every time we saw one. She would pull on the leash, whine, bark, growl and was very hard to control even with a choke collar, or harness.

Brent has changed ALL of that! We had her with him for the 2 week training and she came back such a different dog in all the best ways. We can now take her on the Bob Jones Trail on a busy weekend with little to no issues from her. He has transformed her negative energy and taught her patience and the proper way to manage her excitement. She is even making new dog friends which is something we had all but given up on before she went to Ace.

Bottom line: if you need a dog trainer, especially dealing with aggressive behavior training, look no further!

Brent is awesome! I originally hired him because my two big dogs were really difficult to walk and we also had barking issues. After extensive training (myself definitely included) I can now walk these bad boys off leash! And we continue with Brent with weekly dog walking services to enhance their activity while I'm at work and enforce their awesome training - and socialize with all the other awesome doggies under his care (Molly and Mojo you know who you are!)

We are so pleased with Brent & Ace Dog Training! We left Boomer, our 2 yr old rescued boxer mix, with Brent for 2 weeks for his train & board program. When he picked up him up on day 1, Boomer was unpredictable off-leash and very reactive to other dogs. We hoped that Brent could help with those issues, as we had tried everything we knew how to do. But sometimes you just need a professional, and if so, Brent is your guy! During the 2 weeks, he emailed us updates and videos of Boomer's progress. His communication made us feel encouraged and at ease. It was clear that even after the first few days, he was making progress! When Brent brought him back to us after the 2 weeks, we could see a visible shift in our typically high-strung, on-alert rescue. He seemed calmer, happier, and more well-adjusted. Far less reactive to other dogs, and reliable off-leash. It was incredible! Brent also gave us all the details, instructions, and tools we need to continue Boomer's training. We've already met for a follow-up training session to keep working on his skills off-leash while other dogs are around.

The train & board program was worth every penny. Brent is reliable and truly cares about the health & well-being of your dog. He knows his stuff. I'd highly, highly recommend his services!

Brent is not only an amazing dog trainer, he is an amazing people trainer! Brent showed me how to read and understand cue's from my dog Tobie. Tobie is my 5 year old yorkie/schnauzer mix and this was not his first rodeo. I took Tobie through another company's group training classes and was still struggling with understanding and commanding him. Brent helped me to understand the situation, why Tobie was reacting and "misbehaving" and my frustrations with Tobie not listening to me. Tobie is a very smart dog, we went to Brent with all the basic training sit, stay, leave it, down, and off. Tobie would do these commands but not when there were distractions around (other dogs and people). Brent trained us in public places specific to Tobie's needs. Our relationship is better then ever, we are both less frustrated and can enjoy our walks and being in public places now. Brent's training was a total game changer!

Brent has been watching my dog(s) for almost 3 years now. I had 2 Boston Terriers, very high energy and one with some behavioral problems. After spending a week with Brent, my male's behavior was vastly improved. I now have just the female and just the fact that she loves to go stay with Brent is enough for me. I've never been more pleased with the one on one hands on training that Brent teaches for Ace Dog Training. What people don't understand is you have to train yourself in order to continuously teach your dog basic commands and other serious training and that's what he teaches in all courses. Brent is a great trainer! I have a 4 year old pitbull who everyone is terrified of just because of his breed. I also have a hard time trusting anyone with him but after all of the calls with a bunch of trainers the second I talked to Brent, I knew he was a good match for Maddox. I did the 1 month boot camp or board and train and Maddox now walks on leash without pulling me which is amazing because I couldn't walk him before. He also sits and down stays. I just got him back two days ago so we are working on him listening to me since he is use to Brent but the changes I've seen in my dog are amazing! Thank you so much for all you did for Maddox! I highly recommend him for any dog training of any dog/breed!

Brent did and awesome job for us. Not only was he great with our 1 year old German Shepherd (who very much has a mind of her own), but he was great with my wife and I. He had already taught her to walk properly on a leash, sit, down-stay, and crate-trained her. When she'd come to me she'd obviously never been inside a house.

His dogs have also socialized her so she's now comfortable around other dogs and comfortable in many more new situations. Brent works with her daily to safely and carefully expose her to the many new experiences that we take for granted but which may terrify your puppy.
